Henan Province is the most populous province in China thanks to separating Chongqing from Sichuan. Henan is the breadbasket of China. It ranks first in the production of wheat, beef, and fiber crops. It ranks second in the production of coal, cigarettes, fertilizer, tractors, peanuts, sesame, gold, and cotton. It ranks third in the production of beans, tobacco, apples, pork, mutton, and honey. Zhengzhou, the capital, is the most important rail center in China. Henan has China's largest reserves of molybdenum, asbestos, natural gas, bauxite, coal, perlite and refractory clay. We lived in Xinzheng just south of Zhengzhou for a year.
